NRA Basic Pistol Training

NRA Basic Pistol is an 8-hour long class that includes classroom and range time learning about revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. In it students will get the NRA’s The Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook and intensive lessons in safety.

Class instruction includes but is not limited to the following:

b. Safe Firearm Storage

II. PISTOL MECHANISMS & OPERATION
a. Introduction to pistol mechanisms
b. Revolver parts and operation
c. Semi-Automatic pistol parts and operation
d. Operating double and single action revolvers
e. Operating double and single action semi-automatic pistols
f. Ammunition fundamentals

III. BUILDING PISTOL SHOOTING SKILLS
a. Fundamentals of pistol shooting
b. Fundamentals of pistol shooting positions
c. The bench rest position
d. Common pistol shooting errors
e. Clearing common pistol stoppages

IV. PISTOL MAINTENANCE, SELECTION & USE
a. Cleaning and maintaining your pistol
b. Selecting pistols, pistol ammunition and accessories
c. Pistol shooting activities and opportunities for skills development
d. The one-handed shooting position
e. Information and training resources
