Located in Winfield, KS, Home on the Range Firearms was started in 2010 by owner and operator, Chris Jarvis.   Born and raised in Winfield, Chris  grew up in a family of avid hunters.  He received his first Colt Lightning 22 at the age of 12 and immediately formed a lifelong love of firearms.  To this day, one of his fondest memories is buying ammunition downtown, slinging his rifle over the handlebars of his bike and riding to the creek to shoot. Over the years, Chris continued to perfect his skill, often hunting for small game and target shooting at the family farm.  Growing up, being proficient with a firearm was not only a form of sport, but also a means to obtain food and a means of self protection.

 

Chris went on to attend Kansas State University, graduating with a degree in business. Shortly after graduation, he moved back to Winfield to join the family business, Jarvis Auto Supply.  Beginning in early 2000, he started transitioning out of the  auto parts business and decided to pursue a lifelong love of all things firearms.

 

Home on the Range was established by Chris and his wife, Kathy, in 2010.  Since then, Chris has been proud to bring his passion to the community, promoting gun events through the NRA, Friends of the NRA and Women on Target. He endeavors to educate the public through First Steps, Hunter’s Safety and concealed-carry classes. He currently holds his Federal Firearms License, as well as a class 3 FFL, allowing him to sell suppressors and short-barrel rifles, and is a NRA Certified Basic Pistol Instructor and Chief Range Safety Officer.  It is their honor to continually support and uphold the United States Constitution and the rights of our citizens to hold and bear arms.
